COWED partners with TIC Summit, empowering students to create solutions to community problems. <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The TiC Foundation<\/a> in partnership with COWED and other partners organized the TiC Summit<\/a> Area Hackathon in Mankon Bamenda, Cameroon, On January 24, 2026, where over 150 young people gathered to think and create solutions to everyday problems faced in their local communities.<\/p>\n

The problems of unemployment, online media dangers, and social media anxiety, are reportedly among the biggest problems young people face in Africa<\/a> and Cameroon<\/a> in particular.<\/p>\n

During the Hackathon, 27 teams from different schools around the city of Bamenda<\/a> collaborated, and presented ideas that could tackle the challenges of climate change, digital dangers, waste management, unemployment, and many others.<\/p>\n

The students also had the opportunity to learn from impactful tech innovators and NGOs aspects of Prototype, Design Thinking, Project Incubation, Brand Communications, and how to manage distractions especially from online, and peer pressures that could hinder them from achieving their dreams.<\/p>\n

During the Hackathon, Neuk Marion, Public Health Consultant at COWED, also cautioned the students against the dangers of addictions such as betting, pornography, social media, drug abuse, and many others that could prevent them from meeting their future goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cAddiction is common with young people like you. It makes you unproductive, it affects your health especially your mental health, it keeps you stock and isolated such that it becomes difficult for you to achieve your goals,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

“Ones you notice you are addicted, seek help, go for counseling, and above all turn to God who will restore you through the Holy Spirit,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

At COWED, our goal is to holistically solve pertinent problems that affects our local communities and align people to their purposes for meaningful living.<\/p>\n

The program was realized thanks to other partners such as, Bitsvalley<\/a> \u00a0Open Dreams Educational NGO<\/a> , Doram Creative<\/a>, Let’s Talk Tech<\/a>, and \u00a0Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network – CYPAN<\/a>.<\/p>\n
